1. Ferny Forest Bike Loop, Ewen Maddock Dam

Where: 2316 Steve Irwin Way, Landsborough

Sometimes known as the Ewen Maddock Loop, the Ferny Forest Bike Loop is the perfect bike loop to explore natured and build your mountain biking skills. This 12.8-kilometre loop is perfect for families and beginner riders as the route is quite flat and with generally sandy terrain throughout the loop. While there are some twisted turns and loops, there are no major hazards or dangerous areas that you might be wary of. Through this loop, you’ll be able to enjoy the ferns, blackbutt forests and views of Ewen Maddock Dam and Mount Beerwah.

2. Parkland Conservation Park Mountain Bike Trails

Where: Parkland Conservation Park, Parklands

If you’re looking for a challenge, we’d recommend the Parkland Conservation Park Mountain Bike Trails. This area has over 30-kilometres of a twisty track that takes you through dense forest areas and lush green undergrowth. However, brace yourself for some rocky climbs, steep switchbacks, stream crossings, and up-hill climbs. This trail is not for novice riders as the tight turns and tree roots all around will require a more polished skillset to navigate through them successfully. Even if you are experienced, do take caution as the track is littered with logs, rocks, and dips all throughout.

3. Sugar Bag Mountain Bike Trails, Caloundra

Where: Sugar Bag Road, Caloundra West

Filled with technical loops, the Sugar Bag Mountain Bike Trail is a network featuring bridges, see-saws, log rollovers, ramps, and several jumps. The trail also features a dirt and wooden floor type that might be hard for novice bikers to navigate through. Consisting of 11 trails, this area is perfect for bikers of all levels from novices to advanced bikers. Make sure to check the rating of each trail – but if you want something really challenging, be sure to check out the double black diamond skill area dubbed “The Playground”.

4. Weyba Creek Circuit, Noosaville

Where: Weyba Creek Conservation Park, Noosaville

Near Noosa Shire, the Weyba Creek Circuit is a 7.3-kilometre trail that takes an average of 1 hour 43 minutes to complete. The trail is generally considered to be an easy route that is great for road biking novices. The trail covers a good variety of landscape from footpaths to boardwalks, bush tracks and suburban streets. Throughout the ride, you’ll have a lovely view of the Noosa estuaries and waterways that flow through the area. As a popular holiday destination, you’re likely to find other outdoor enthusiasts in the area.

5. Mapleton National Park Bike Trails

Where: Mapleton National Park, Mapleton

The Mapleton National Park Bike Trail features a large area with 26 different biking trails catering to bikers of all levels. If you’re an advanced rider, you can try the Mapleton Downhill Track that features a steep downhill trail littered with loose surface, ruts, and overgrown lines. But if you want something easier, you can try the Oaky Creek Lookout Track or the Cooloolabin Dam Loop for something more challenging.
